How to Read Your Tax Notice

1. CUSTOMER NUMBER
If paying by cheque, make a note of this on the memo field. With online banking, this is your account number; use leading zeroes to make it 4 digits.
2. PARCEL SIZE IN ACRES
3. TAXABLE ASSESSMENT
Assessed value x percentages of value (POV)
4. PROPERTY CLASS
5. MILL RATE FACTORS
These only apply to Municipal taxes and are set by the RM.
6. ROLL NUMBER
Used by the RM to identify each property.
7. TAXING AUTHORITY
Each property has municipal and school taxes and this provides the tax breakdown between each. 
8. AMOUNTS OWING ACCORDING TO THE MONTH YOU ARE PAYING
This includes discounts for early payments and penalties if you have tax arrears.
9. TOTAL TAXABLE ASSESSMENT GROUPED BY TAXING AUTHORITY AND PROPERTY CLASS
10. MILL RATES FOR EACH TAXING AUTHORITY AND PROPERTY CLASS
Properties with an asterisk have mill rate factors applied which are listed above.
11. VOTING DIVISION
When there are elections for Council members, this is the division you can vote in.
