Services

The RM of Rocanville offers a variety of services to its ratepayers.

Coyote Bounty

The RM of Rocanville has a coyote bounty of $25 per four paws. Individuals making a claim must reside in the RM of Rocanville and show four (4) paws to their division councillor. Land locations where coyotes are collected must be recorded and be within the boundaries of the RM to be eligible for payment. Individuals must obtain land owner permission to hunt or trap on private property.

Beaver Program

The RM of Rocanville participates in the Beaver Control Program (BCP) administered by the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM).

Land locations where beavers are taken must be recorded and be within the boundaries of the RM to be eligible for payment. Individuals making a claim must show the tails to their division councillor. Individuals must obtain land owner permission to hunt or trap on private property.

The bounty funding received through SARM is $15.00/tail and is matched by the RM for a total bounty of $30.00/beaver tail.

Rat Program

The RM of Rocanville participates in the Rat Control Program administered by the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM). SARM administers the program based on a 50:50 cost-share to RMs and FNs that are active in their rat control efforts and who follow the minimum level of service.

The RM has contracted Dean Godon to be our Pest Control Officer. He visits each residence in the fall to help ratepayers determine if there any rat infestations and what measures may be necessary. He provides rat control products to ratepayers on behalf of the RM.

Mouse and rat poison are available to ratepayers at no charge. 

Products available each year may vary by pest control officer preference and availability.

Laneways

Lanes will be cleared of snow, at no cost to the ratepayer, at the Foreman's discretion, as time allows. This is a privilege that council chooses to extend at this time to ratepayers and does not take precedence over road snow removal.

Dust Control

Council charges ratepayers a discounted rate of $350 per 200m. Dust control is usually applied in June of each year.

Gravel

Gravel is available for purchase for ratepayers at a rate set by council each year. The 2025 rates are as follows:

Crushed Gravel (1.5"): $8.00/yd

Pit Run (3"): $7.00/yd

Sand: $10.00/yd

Hauling charges are $1.00/yd/mile.

Three (3) loads maximum per residence. Call the office at 306-645-2055 to place your 2025 gravel order.

Scale

When the grain elevator in town was being demolished, the RM purchased the scale and moved it on to the RM yard. This scale is available for ratepayers to use free of charge.

Weed Control

If noxious or prohibited weeds are found within the RM Right of Ways, the RM hires a contractor to spray these weeds following provincial guidelines. If you see any noxious weeds within the RM, please contact the office.

Water Access

Treated water from the Town of Rocanville water treatment plant is available from the well at the RM yard in Rocanville. Access to the well is with a water fob that can be purchased from the office for $20.00.

Non-potable water is available at the Bear Creek Well (NW 33-16-32) or pumpable at Barish/Rat Lake (NW 24-16-33).
